Welcome to The Integrated Technologies Training Programme designed by The Mico University College to enable teachers at the CSEC level to integrate technology into their teaching of the curriculum.The training is divided into fifteen (15) lessons to be delivered in three (3) hour sessions in a computer laboratory facility.
The course is designed to cover practical and theoretical applications to the integration of technology in the CSEC curriculum with emphasis on hands-on approaches. The general methodology to be employed in the training is the constructivist approach seamlessly integrated with group and individual tasks. Participants will therefore have an opportunity to use the various technology resources as a problem-solving tool in their everyday teaching experience. To this end they will be exposed to a wide range of software applications, new technological applications and current methodologies in teaching modern approaches to teaching.
The course will be assessed primarily through the completion of an Electronic Portfolio. All tasks undertaken during the training will be considered as part of the final grade.. The course carries a three credit weighting and participants who successfully complete this course, will earn three (3) credits in Instructional Technology allowing them to obtain exemption from this course in the Bachelor of Education Programme at The Mico University College.The facilitators chosen to deliver this training are experienced teachers with demonstrated competence in the field of Instructional Technology. They will work with modern resources to facilitate the successful integration of technology into the curriculum.In an effort to make the training interactive, the MOODLE Learning Management System will be used as a central resource to facilitate registration, assessment and teaching. This resource will be accessed through
The Mico Portal is specifically designed to facilitate this training. Participants will be expected to interact with this MOODLE resource as consistently as possible.The evaluation component of this training will take the form of formative, summative and post evaluations. At specific intervals evaluations will be conducted of facilitators as well as participants to determine the success of the training.
At the end of the training a special evaluation will be done to assess the success of the entire training. Built in the training is a post assessment of the participants where a team of evaluators will do visits to observe the participants as they implement the programme in their respective content areas. In conclusion, the training is designed to provide the participants with cutting edge exposure and experience in the integration of ICT in the CSEC curriculum.
